There used to be a community in East-Anglia, in medieval times, in which the short men, a troubled minority, fashioned huge stilts for themselves. Stilts so lofty that the walkers were scarcely visible. These constructions were not designed to make the men appear taller. Quite differently, their purpose was to set the men far enough up for their height to be unknown.
