Being A Good Listener: Is It Enough?

Are you an audience or a performer? You seem to be somewhat passive don't you - you listen to music rather than make it; you watch television rather than feature on it; you read magazines rather than write them.

Conversation. It's a balance between active time and audience time isn't it? Are there a few worries about the balance between doing and being done to? The worry of the middle-aged that they've got the balance horribly wrong. Been a good listener but never really shone with ideas, and now life's sun is beginning to set.

Oh the damage done by advisers who still trot out that lazy adage that one must 'Be A Good Listener'. Well be a good listener and listen to these blogs of ours if you must, but the adage literally misses the point doesn't it? It's what you say after you've listened, it's your performance, that brings you alive surely? Nobody is interested in a mute.
